Lok Sabha Elections-2024: Permission Cells established at district and Assembly Constituency level for 19 different types of approvals

Jalandhar: District Administration Jalandhar has set up permission cells both at District and Assembly Constituency Level to issue 19 different types of  permissions to political parties and candidates with respect to holding of rallies, ceremonies, setting up election offices, holding meetings, use of loud speakers, helicopters etc during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Giving more information in this regard, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that at the district level, “Permission Cell” has been established at Room No. 22, MA Branch, in District Administrative Complex Jalandhar.

During the election various approvals like use of helicopter and helipad, vehicle permit (inter district), video van and vehicle permit in Lok Sabha constituency will be given by the District Election Officer for which applicants can contact Manjit Singh mobile number (97817-00067) and Rajinder Singh (98150-65174) at the approval cell established at the district level.

The District Election Officer, Jalandhar further informed that similarly for corner meetings and loud speaker permit, air balloons, opening of party office, loud speaker during processions, door to door campaign, banners/flags, posters, hoardings/Unipol, including vehicles, Loud speaker, vehicle permit, meeting including use of loud speaker, rally approval, pamphlet distribution approval and loud speaker permit approvals will be issued by the respective Assistant Returning Officers at the Assembly Constituency level.

He further informed that apart from this, permission to run the video vans during the Lok Sabha elections will be given by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab.

Dr. Aggarwal also said that for various approvals at the permission cell established at Phillaur Assembly Constituency applicants can contact Nodal Officer Sunita Khilan at mobile no. 98152-54526. The District Election Officer further said that apart from this, information related to the elections can also be obtained on the toll free number 1950.  He said that according to the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the application for any kind of approval can also be given through the online method through the Encore permission portal.

He said that the approval applied through this portal can also be tracked by the concerned candidate and the approval can also be obtained online. He furthrr said that it is necessary to apply 48 hours before to get approval through online method and 24 hours before for physical method.

The District Election Officer instructed all the Assistant Returning Officers of the district to ensure strict compliance with the election rules while issuing approvals during the Lok Sabha Elections-2024.  He said that approvals should be issued to related parties and candidates in a transparent manner on the basis of ‘first come first serve’.
