Manpreet Badal leaves campaign event amid questions from farmer leaders

Chandigarh: Gidderbaha assembly constituency BJP candidate and former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal left an election event without fully addressing questions posed by a farmer leader, sparking attention on social media.

During his campaign stop in a village, Badal was approached by Bittu Malan, an activist with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), who questioned him on his pro-farmer record.

While Badal initially responded by listing initiatives he undertook as an MLA for Gidderbaha, he reportedly cut the conversation short when asked about the case of farmer Shubhkaran Singh, who died of gunshot injuries during the farmers’ protests, and issues surrounding paddy procurement.

Badal then left in his SUV, as captured in a video circulated on social media.

Farmers have intensified protests against BJP leaders in recent days, including attempts to surround Badal’s wife, Veenu Badal, and staging a sit-in outside his office in Gidderbaha.
