Meet Hayer condemns not having Punjab’s name in President’s address
New Delhi: Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, a first-time MP from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, delivered his maiden speech in the Lok Sabha. During this time, he raised the voice of Punjab’s rights in Parliament. Participating in the debate on the President’s address, Meet Hayer condemned that Punjab’s name was not included in the President’s address.
Addressing the Parliament, he said that 80 per cent of those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence were Punjabis. Apart from this, Punjabis also have an important role to play in suffering the pain of the partition of the country and filling the food reserves of the country.
He said that Punjabis are also at the forefront of the soldiers who have laid down their lives at the borders and those who have made a mark in the field of sports.
