Meeting between Punjab CM and SKM leaders remains inconclusive ahead of March 5 protest
Chandigarh: The meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) leaders at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, ahead of the ‘Pakka Morcha’ scheduled for March 5, ended without a resolution.
SKM leaders Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Balbir Singh Rajewal said they presented a memorandum of 18 demands to the chief minister. However, only 8 to 9 demands were discussed, and Mann agreed to just one or two. The meeting was cut short after the chief minister left, citing an eye infection.
Mann urged the farmers not to proceed with their protest on March 5, warning that any accepted demands would be withdrawn if they went ahead with the demonstration.
Despite this, SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal reaffirmed that the farmers would go ahead with their ‘Pakka Morcha’ in Chandigarh from March 5 as planned. Punjab ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal were also present at the meeting.
