Munawwar-ul-Nisa, the last Begum of Malerkotla state, passes away at 100
Punjab E News: A large number of political, religious and social workers attended the funeral prayers of Begum Munawwar-ul-Nisa, the last Begum of the family of Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan of Malerkotla, who opposed the killing of the younger Sahibzadas. His body was buried as per religious rituals in the royal tombs, where the tomb of Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan is located. Begum was given a guard of honour in the presence of the district administration on the occasion.
Munawar Un Nissa (103), the third and last Begum of late Iftakhar Ali Khan, the last Nawab of Malerkotla, the only Muslim princely state of the rising Punjab, passed away at 5 am today at the local Hazrat Halima Hospital after a few days of illness. Begam’s close brother Kamaljit Singh Boparai and caretaker Mohammad Mehmood said Begum was feeling some difficulty due to being physically very weak as a result of age. Begum was admitted to the local Halima Hospital about ten days ago in view of her critical health.
After being admitted to the hospital for three-four days, she was brought back to the local residence Mubarak Manzil Mahal after recovering. Three days ago, she was again admitted to Hazrat Halima Hospital after her health deteriorated again, where she breathed her last at 5 am today. Her body was kept at the palace for the last darshan of the people.
