Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, and Nagar Panchayat Elections in Jalandhar

Voting Will Take Place on Saturday from 7 AM to 4 PM

Jalandhar News: The District Administration has completed all preparations for the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, and Nagar Panchayat elections to be held in Jalandhar on December 21. On Saturday, 7,29,658 voters will cast their vote.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that voting will take place from 7 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, followed by vote counting at the polling stations. He appealed to voters to actively participate in the elections and cast their votes without any fear or intimidation.

Providing information about election preparations, Dr. Aggarwal said that a total of 729 polling booths have been set up in the district for the elections. These include 677 polling booths for the 85 wards of the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, 27 booths for one ward each in Municipal Councils Bhogpur, Goraya, and Phillaur, and 25 booths for one ward each in Nagar Panchayats Bilga, Shahkot, and Mehatpur. He also mentioned that two wards (Ward No. 1 and 3) of Nagar Panchayat Bilga have already reached unanimous decisions.

Regarding voter statistics, the District Election Officer informed that Jalandhar city has a total of 6,83,367 voters, including 354,159 men, 3,29,188 women, and 20 others. Additionally, 24,504 voters will participate in the elections for Municipal Councils Bhogpur, Goraya, and Phillaur, while 21,787 voters will cast their votes for Nagar Panchayats Bilga, Shahkot, and Mehatpur.

To ensure free, fair, and smooth elections, 2916 employees have been deployed for election duty. Of these, 2708 employees will handle duties for Jalandhar Municipal Corporation elections, and 208 will be on duty for the elections of Municipal Councils Bhogpur, Goraya, Phillaur, and Nagar Panchayats Bilga, Shahkot, and Mehatpur.

For security purpose during the elections, the District Police will deploy 3404 personnel, including 2469 for the Municipal Corporation elections and 935 for the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections.
