New Year Bonanza: College and university teachers to get 7th Pay Commission benefit, guest faculty’s salary increased in Punjab
Chandigarh: Ahead of the start of the new year in Punjab, the Government of India has implemented the UGC 7th Pay Commission for college and university teachers. This demand of the teachers was pending for the last 6 years, which has now been approved.
Higher Education and Languages Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said the decision, implemented in October, will provide financial benefit of Rs 280 crore to teachers from the state exchequer. Apart from this, the salary of guest faculty and part-time teachers working in the college has also been increased. Also, many types of holiday facilities have also been provided.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government celebrated the month of November as Punjabi Month to honour the Punjabi language. Meanwhile, at a state-level function in Amritsar, CM Bhagwant Mann had decided to give preference to Punjabi language in all government and private boards till February 21, 2023. It has been made mandatory to write Punjabi language at the top of the sign boards of all places. Non-compliance of these orders after February 21 will be fined by the government.
