NIA detains lawyer in Amritpal Singh case, bar association announces ‘no work day’ today
Kapurthala News: The Punjab Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have detained a lawyer practising at the District Court Kapurthala in a joint operation. It has been learnt that advocate Rajdeep Singh had shared some content on his Facebook about the absconding Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.
After this, the Punjab Police and NIA have detained the lawyer. According to sources, after detaining lawyer Rajdeep Singh, he is being questioned about his relationship with Amritpal and about whereabouts of Amritpal.
On the other hand, the District Kapurthala Bar Association has taken strong cognizance of the detention of its lawyer without any notice. It has been declared illegal.
The Kapurthala Bar Association has called for a strike terming the arrest of Rajdeep Singh, who practices in Kapurthala court, originally from village Babak (Godewala) of District Hoshiarpur and Sub-Division Dasuha. The Bar Association has said in the court that no lawyer will go to the court today and no work day will be kept.
In its letter declaring no work day, the Bar Association has written that Rajdeep Singh was returning from Paoncha Sahib when he was arrested by a team of Punjab Police and NIA without any prior notice. He has been arrested only because he had put some content on his Facebook wall about Amritpal.
