Nine-year-old boy dies after electrocution in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A nine-year-old boy, Aarav, died on Saturday morning in Amritsar after being electrocuted by a 66 KV power line in Guru Nanakpura West, Jalandhar. The incident, captured on CCTV, left the child severely burnt.

According to reports, Aarav was playing on Powercom land when he wrapped a stone in a plastic object and threw it at a high-voltage wire. The contact caused an explosion, electrocuting him. No other children were present at the time.

Locals rushed Aarav to Jalandhar Civil Hospital, where he received initial treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to a hospital in Amritsar, where he succumbed during treatment.

Aarav’s maternal grandfather, Hari Singh, said the child, a Class III student, had been playing in the park around 4 pm. He initially believed lightning had struck Aarav, but CCTV footage confirmed the electrocution. The incident caused panic in the area.
