Not able to win single seat in Punjab but BJP gains vote bank in 8 districts
Chandigarh: After the results of the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, every party has been forced to reconsider its strategy. According to the data released by the Election Commission, all parties except the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have gained ground in Punjab.
The BJP has been the most surprising, as it did not win a single seat but led in 23 assembly constituencies.
The AAP won 92 seats in the 2022 assembly election, but the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha election have put them in a difficult position. AAP secured more votes in only 32 out of 117 seats, which is far from a majority.
Meanwhile, Congress is leading in the state with a lead in 38 out of 117 seats. In the 2022 assembly elections, Congress was reduced to 18 seats. The Akali Dal, which currently has two MLAs, is leading in nine seats.
