NRI and taxi driver killed in Phagwara road accident, mother critically injured

Chandigarh: Two individuals, including NRI Dilpreet Singh (28) from Ludhiana and taxi driver Yuvraj Masih, lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Sugar Mill Chowk on the National Highway in Phagwara late last night.

The taxi collided with a tractor-trolley loaded with sugarcane, which was reportedly operating without a reflector.

Dilpreet Singh’s mother, Gurinder Kaur, sustained serious injuries and was initially treated at the local civil hospital before being referred to DMC Ludhiana due to her critical condition.

Dilpreet’s father said that his wife and son were returning to Ludhiana in a taxi after arriving at Amritsar airport from Australia.

The tractor-trolley fled the scene following the collision, leaving the victims in a pool of blood. Police are investigating the incident and efforts are underway to trace the tractor involved.
