Operation Blue Star anniversary: Police on alert as call for Amritsar bandh tomorrow

Amritsar: With the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election duty in Punjab, the Punjab Police have resumed their second important task.

The anniversary of Operation Blue Star is being observed on June 6, and the Dal Khalsa along with other Sikh organizations have called for a bandh in Amritsar on this date.

On Wednesday evening, a Khalsa march will be organized by radical Sikh organizations. During this time, the responsibility of maintaining peace and law and order will rest with the Punjab Police.

Tight security arrangements have been made once again in Amritsar by the police. Police forces from all districts within the border range have been called to the main location.

Police personnel undergoing training at the Police Training Centre have also been deployed in Amritsar. Additionally, around 45 gazetted police officers have arrived for duty in the city.

The majority of these officers are from the Surat Guru Sikhs, and their duty will be in civilian dress within the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex.
