Pakistani drones trigger blackout and explosions across Punjab; three injured in Ferozepur

Chandigarh: Pakistan launched drone attacks across multiple districts, including Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot on Friday.

The Indian Army’s defense systems responded swiftly, shooting down several drones mid-air. However, Pakistani drone incursions continued throughout the night.

In Ferozepur’s Khai Seme village, a drone crash led to a house fire, seriously injuring three people. All three have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Villagers said the explosion occurred while the lights were on inside the house.

A family member of the injured said they were sitting in the courtyard when a shell fell from the sky, striking a parked car and triggering a blaze. “We didn’t even get a chance to escape,” he said.

Dr. Rajvinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer of Ferozepur, confirmed the injuries. “Three people were reported injured in the drone attack. Our team reached the spot immediately and took them to the hospital. Their identities cannot be disclosed at this time. Our priority is their treatment,” she said.

An explosion was also reported nearly 20 km from the Kartarpur Corridor in Gurdaspur, further escalating tensions in the region.

Widespread blackouts were reported in Pathankot, Ferozepur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Fazilka, Patiala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Bathinda as a security precaution.

Despite the incursions, the district administration in Amritsar said the situation in the city remains under control. “There has been no damage reported so far,” officials said.
