Pandher warns Mann government over Dallewal’s fast unto death
Chandigarh: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has issued a stern warning to the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, amid heightened tensions surrounding farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast unto death at the Khanauri border.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday evening, Pandher announced that the Punjab bandh called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha on December 30 would receive widespread support and result in a complete shutdown.
Pandher alleged that the Punjab government and police are mobilizing forces to the Khanauri border to forcibly remove Dallewal. “We have reports that buses are being prepared in Patiala to deploy the force at the Khanauri border. Thirty buses have been requisitioned, and the Patiala range is on high alert,” he claimed.
Drawing parallels to the 2015 Bargari sacrilege protests, Pandher warned the Mann government against any action that could escalate the situation. “If Bhagwant Mann’s government, to appease Delhi or the Modi government, attacks farmers, Punjab will never forgive him,” he said.
The farmer leader also called on the youth from nearby villages to head to the Khanauri border to show solidarity. “Grab motorcycles, gather whatever you can, and reach the border,” he urged.
