Partap Singh Bajwa skips police questioning in ‘bombs’ statement case
Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, did not appear for questioning at the Mohali police station on Monday in connection with his controversial remarks about bombs in Punjab.
Bajwa was summoned by Mohali SP Harbir Singh Atwal to join the investigation at the State Cyber Crime Police Station, Phase-7, at 12 noon. However, he failed to turn up.
About an hour before the scheduled time, Bajwa’s lawyer Pardeep Singh Virk arrived at the police station and submitted an application requesting an extension. He informed authorities that Bajwa would appear before the police at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 15.
The case pertains to Bajwa’s interview with a private TV channel in which he claimed, citing sources, that 50 bombs had reached Punjab — 18 of which had already been used, while 32 were yet to be deployed.
The Punjab Police have registered a case against Bajwa under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the State Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali.
