JALANDHAR RURAL POLICE CRACK DOWN ON DRUG PADDLERS IN TWIN OPERATIONS

Jalandhar News: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Rural Police arrested three persons and seized 521 intoxicant pills in two separate operations conducted within 24 hours. The police also impounded two vehicles used in the crime.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said the first success came when a special team from Maqsudan police station intercepted a Swift Dzire car (JK-02-BL-3289) near Raipur Rasulpur canal. “Our team arrested Jasveer Singh of Hargobind Nagar and Lakhvir Kumar of Kahanpur, recovering 250 orange-colored intoxicant pills from their possession,” the SSP said.

In another operation, SSP Khakh revealed that the Sadar Nakodar police team nabbed Vikramjot Singh alias Bikka of Sharakpur near Boparai Kalan village. The accused, who was riding a black FZ motorcycle (PB-10-DC-6075), was caught with 271 intoxicant pills.

“Both operations were conducted under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Banth, IPS. The preliminary investigation suggests these arrests will help us uncover a larger drug network operating in the region. We have registered cases under Sections 22-61-85 of the NDPS Act at respective police stations,” SSP Khakh added.

The SSP further stated that the police have launched a special drive against drug trafficking in the district. “We have formed dedicated teams to track and arrest drug peddlers. The accused will be produced in court, and we will seek their remand for further investigation. We urge citizens to come forward and share information about drug trafficking in their areas. The informer’s identity will be kept confidential,” he emphasised.
