Police question Bajwa over bomb claim, Congress leader refuses to reveal source
Chandigarh: Two Punjab Police officers questioned senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa at his residence in Chandigarh on Tuesday, following his recent statement on a private TV channel claiming bombs had been planted in Punjab.
The officers reportedly sought details about the source of Bajwa’s information. After a brief questioning session, the officers left his residence.
Speaking to reporters later, Bajwa confirmed that police officials had visited him for questioning and said he shared all relevant details, except the identity of the sources. “I refused to divulge the names,” he said.
Bajwa added that he received the information two days ago from some senior officials, whose identities he could not disclose. According to Bajwa, these officials warned that the law and order situation in Punjab was deteriorating and the government had lost control. “They told me that I come from a family of terror victims and should remain vigilant,” he said.
Bajwa said he assured the police of his cooperation in the interest of Punjab.
