Power crisis: Centre yet to accept Punjab’s request for additional power
Chandigarh: Power crisis may deepen on paddy crop in Punjab. Due to the possibility of less rain, additional power will be required. CM Bhagwant Mann has written a letter to Union Minister RK Singh for one thousand MW additional power for 4 months, but this demand is still incomplete.
In a letter to Union Minister RK Singh, Mann has stated the need for additional 1,000 MW power from the central pool in Punjab for four months from June 15 to October 15. The reason for this is the yield of paddy crop in Punjab. It requires more water.
The Meteorological Department has predicted less than normal rainfall in Punjab. As a result, farmers may face power crisis during the paddy crop. To avoid this, the Punjab government sought cooperation from the central government.
Meanwhile, The paddy season in Punjab has already started from June 10, while CM Mann has written a letter to the Union Minister demanding that the paddy crop be preserved in the national interest of food security. the Punjab government is worried about the power crisis that is looming over the farmers of the state. But till now the demand of the state has not been fulfilled by the central government.
