Preventing road accidents is top priority of Punjab Government- Jimpa
Adampur (Jalandhar): Cabinet Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa on Sunday said that Punjab government had been according priority to road safety and announcement of Sadak Surakhya Force by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was a significant move in this direction.
Road mishaps not only claim precious lives but also render several physically challenged due to which they are forced to lead a life with artificial limbs, said Minister after distributing artificial limbs to the beneficiaries at a programme organised by Rotary Club of Adampur city.
Jimpa said that Sadak Surkhya Force would help in saving precious lives by reducing mishaps, but would also streamline the traffic movement. He said that special vehicles would be deployed at every 30 km and SSF would play a pivotal role in ensuring road safety. He also asked the parents to make youngsters realise the need to drive cautiously as their lives will turn miserable if they meet with an accident.
The Minister also said that Farishte scheme would be launched soon in the state to offer all necessary medical services to accident victims free of cost for the first 24 hours after mishaps. He said emergency and ambulance services would also be strengthened to saving the patient’s life within the first hour of an accident, which is ‘golden hour’. He said that Punjab Government would give Rs 2,000 as honorarium to those who bring and get the victim admitted to the hospitals.
Later, the Minister also talked with beneficiaries in the camp and announced Rs Two lakh assistance for the Rotary club. He lauded the services of the club and assured fulsome support in future endeavors.
MLA Raman Arora and other representatives of the club were also present during the event.
