Punjab 16th Finance Commission team to arrive, Government engaged in planning
Chandigarh: Punjab is expected to receive substantial funds from the central government in the near future, and the ongoing projects in the state should gain momentum. The Punjab government has developed a comprehensive strategy regarding this. The 16th Finance Commission team is scheduled to visit Punjab on July 22 and 23. A presentation has been prepared for this team. Additionally, Punjab has contacted other states that the team has recently visited.
The Commission’s visit to Punjab is considered very important, as the issue of Punjab’s lack of resources in the past will be raised in the meeting with the Commission. With the implementation of GST, all sources of income have gone to the Centre, which is causing losses to the state government.
This includes Rs 6,700 crore of RDF, Rs 650 crore of the National Health Mission Fund, Rs 1,600 crore of Special Capital Assistance, and Rs 515.55 crore of the PMSHRI Scheme. However, during Captain Amarinder Singh’s government, Rs 2,500 crore was received from the 15th Finance Commission.
