Punjab Assembly to Hold Special Session on February 24-25

Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced that a two-day special session of the Punjab Assembly would be held on February 24 and 25 to discuss pending bills and legislative business.

Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Cheema said the budget session is scheduled for March.

During the meeting, the cabinet approved several measures, including an increase in the monthly pension for acid attack victims from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. The revised pension scheme will also include transgenders.

Additionally, the monthly allowance for chowkidars in villages was raised from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500.
