Punjab CM announces to shut down Zira distillery

PunjabENews: Following protests by villagers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday has announced to close the Zira liquor distillery.

Earlier, a three-member committee set up by the Punjab and Haryana High Court to ascertain the financial loss suffered by Malbrose International’s ethanol plant due to forcible closure by protesters arrived here today to begin its probe. Committee members Justice R K Nehru (retd), Advocate Babbar Khan and Additional Commissioner Excise and Taxation Viraj Tidke met DC Amrit Singh, ADC (G) Sagar Setia and Zira SDM Gagandeep Singh.
