Punjab CM meets Sugar Cane Control Board, Govt may soon hike sugarcane prices
Chandigarh: A meeting of the Sugar Cane Control Board (SCB) convened by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has concluded. The meeting was called by CM Mann after farmers sought to raise the price of sugarcane per quintal. During the meeting, a decision was made to increase the sugarcane price per quintal. The meeting took place at CM Mann’s residence, with participation from sugar mill owners.
Over the last four days, farmers had staged a sit-in, demanding an increase in sugarcane prices. Yesterday, CM Mann met with farmer leaders to discuss this issue, promising a timely decision to increase the price of sugarcane.
Mann highlighted that the state government consistently offers the highest sugarcane price in Punjab across India, a commitment that will persist. Additionally, farmers were advised not to disrupt roads and railways. Following the four-day sit-in, the farmers reopened both railway tracks and main roads, trusting CM Mann’s assurance.
