PUNJAB EDUCATION MINISTER HOISTS TRICOLOUR IN LUDHIANA, EXTENDS GREETINGS ON I-DAY
Ludhiana News: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Tuesday hoisted the National Flag here at the ground of Satish Chander Dhawan Government College on the occasion of 77th Independence Day.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik and Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu, the Minister after hoisting the Tricolour inspected the parade and took a salute. Mr. Bains said that great martyrs and freedom fighters including Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev, Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, Madan Lal Dhingra, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Udham Singh made unparalleled sacrifices for the sake of independence. It is also a matter of great pride that maximum sacrifices during independence struggle were of Punjabis, who were always frontrunners in safeguarding the interests of country.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Minister said that Aam Aadmi Government has been working hard to fulfill all promises made with the people in due course of time as it has already taken several historic decisions in last one and a half year. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government working to realise the dreams of martyrs to make Rangla Punjab by taking path-breaking initiatives.
Speaking on the initiatives taken in the field of education, the minister said that school education in the state has seen tremendous reforms to ensure quality education to students of government schools. He further added that many more steps would be taken shortly to put school education on a high-growth trajectory as students are future of our country.
Extending his warm greetings to people of Ludhiana, the Cabinet Minister further told that district has recorded path-breaking development in all spheres of life under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Government has launched several projects to make Ludhiana clean, green and pollution-free city, he said adding that various employment opportunities were being created to provide youths with ample jobs. Earlier, he lashed out at previous governments for ignoring the interests of Punjabis saying that Mann government has infused a new ray of hope among people of state by its initiatives.
Min Bains also honoured several personalitie including officers, doctors, NGOs, and persons from various walks of life for their remarkable contribution towards society. He also distributed sewing machines and wheelchairs among needy people.
Later, the Cabinet Minister announced holiday tomorrow (August 16) for teachers and students who participated in today’s Independence Day celebrations.
