6% DA cheers Punjab employees
Fulfilling yet another poll promise, Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to give 6% dearness allowance (DA) to employees and pensioners, with effect from October 1 this year.
This decision will cost the exchequer Rs 200 crore annually.
It was a long pending demand of government employees but the successive governments did not pay head to it, but after forming the government within seven months, AAP fulfilled its promises, said a senior AAP leader from Jalandhar.
Not only this, AAP government had also restored old pension scheme and now employees are entitled to a monthly pension after retirement.
The pension scheme was stalled in 2004 and restoring it ahead of Diwali, the AAP government has fulfilled a major demand of state government employees.
