Punjab Fire and Emergency Services Bill tabled in House

Chandigarh: The Punjab Fire and Emergency Services Bill was introduced during the monsoon session of the Punjab Assembly. CM Bhagwant Mann shared his views on the matter, stating that the Punjab Fire and Emergency Amendment Bill is crucial. Fire department vehicles have been provided on the model of those used in New York.

The CM also mentioned that a few days ago, some girls met him in Derabassi. They informed him that although they had passed the written test, they were facing challenges with the physical test due to a rule requiring both boys and girls to carry a 60 kg sack. As a result, they were unable to qualify. In response, the rules for female candidates are being revised.

The weight requirement for girls will be reduced from 60 kg to 40 kg. Punjab will also become the first state to allow women to serve in the fire department. The CM emphasized the need to clear the backlog and expedite decisions.
