Punjab gets new chief secretary; KAP Sinha replaces Anurag Verma
Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Wednesday replaced state Chief Secretary Anurag Verma with 1992-batch IAS officer KAP Sinha.
The change has been made at the highest level in view of other changes being made at the behest of the Aam Aadmi Party high command in the office of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Four aides of the Chief Minister have already been asked to resign/submit their resignations. Though no immediate reason has been given for the change in the state’s top administrative post, sources said the party high command is not happy with the delay in implementation of government schemes and decisions.
Last week, Chief Secretary Verma was reportedly called to Delhi for a meeting with top party functionaries. Sinha is the fourth chief secretary of Punjab in the last two-and-a-half years since the AAP government took over in Punjab.
