PUNJAB GOVERNMENT RELEASES RS. 10 CRORE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS IN JALANDHAR CITY- BALKAR SINGH
Jalandhar: Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh today said that the state government has issued funds worth Rs. 10 crore for the construction of roads in the Jalandhar city so as to make road infrastructure in the city top class.
Chairing a review meeting with respect to development projects of the city, the Minister directed the officials of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar and District Administration to ensure timely construction of all the roads as the government has already released the funds for it.
The Minister said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government was committed to ensuring all-round development of the state and there was no paucity of funds to carry out this mammoth task.
He further directed the officials to ensure proper monitoring of all the works as any kind of compromise with the quality of roads and other projects will be highly unwarranted.
He also directed the officials to start construction work of rejuvenation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park so that people in this area can take the benefit of modern facilities here. He mentioned that tenders have already been floated in this regard and the rejuvenation of park will be done at an outlay of Rs. One crore.
The Minister stated that the Local Bodies Department was taking some path-breaking initiatives to provide better services to citizens wherein focus was being laid to fill the vacant posts in municipal authorities.
He also said that as many as 375 vacant posts were being filled in the departments which will further accelerate the pace of development works. Likewise, the recruitment procedure of about 400 firemen was also underway to further strengthen the fire services in the cities.
