Punjab government suspends 14 tehsildars for refusing work amid protest, check list
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has suspended 14 tehsildars for refusing to register property deeds amid a protest against the Vigilance Bureau’s actions. The tehsildars had gone on mass leave and vowed not to work until Friday.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a firm stance, warning officials to return by 5 pm or face suspension. Following the ultimatum, many tehsildars resumed work in districts like Mohali, Sangrur, and Moga, but some remained defiant.
The government stated that the strike amounted to coercion and blackmail, which would not be tolerated. CM Mann personally visited tehsil offices in Kharar, Banur, and Zirakpur, stressing that such protests would not pressure the administration.
Officials who did not resume duty before the deadline have now been suspended.
