Punjab government suspends Kapurthala civil surgeon over staff misbehaviour

Kapurthala: In a sudden move, the Punjab government has suspended Kapurthala Civil Surgeon Dr. Richa Bhatia with immediate effect following allegations of misbehaviour with the staff.

An official order, signed by Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, was issued on Friday and sent to all concerned departments, including the Director of Health Services.

According to the orders, Dr. Bhatia has been asked to report to the Chandigarh headquarters without delay.

The action comes amid ongoing protests by the entire clerical staff, who have been demonstrating against what they allege to be ill-treatment by the civil surgeon.

Despite the suspension order, the staff continued their sit-in protest on Friday.
