Punjab government to include year-long farmers protest in school curriculum
Chandigarh: In a major decision, the Punjab government has announced to include another new chapter to the school syllabus. Now the children will be taught the farmers’ movement in schools.
The nearly one-and-a-half-year-long farmers’ agitation, which shook the roots of the central government, will be included in the curriculum of the Punjab School Education Board schools.
In fact, the teachers’ associations had been demanding for a long time to make this struggle a part of the syllabus. It is worth mentioning that after the protest of the farmers, the central government had withdrawn the three farm laws.
The association says that by reading about the farmers’ movement, the children will know about their democratic rights. He said that by reading this, the children will come to know how the citizens unitedly faced the anti-farmer policies of the government and how due to this agitation, the Center had withdrawn the three farm laws.
