Punjab govt sends application to Lok Sabha Speaker seeking parole for Amritpal Singh to take oath
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has sent an application to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking parole for Amritpal Singh to take oath as an MP from Khadoor Sahib.
Amritpal Singh is currently under house arrest under the NSA in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail. Rajdev Singh Khalsa, former MP and spokesperson of Amritpal Singh, said an application for grant of parole was sent to the District Magistrate of Amritsar as a case was registered under the National Security Act in Amritsar.
Khalsa said the DM forwarded the application to the Punjab Home Secretary, who forwarded it to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
“An elected MP has 60 days to take oath. It is also learnt that the Lok Sabha Speaker has not taken any action on the application,” he said.
