Punjab govt to hold municipal and council elections in January
Jalandhar News: The Punjab government has decided to hold elections to five municipal corporations and 41 municipal councils in January next year. The AAP government has chalked out a roadmap to hold panchayat polls immediately after the municipal council polls.
The dates will be announced soon by the State Election Commission. Before that, rallies will be held by the AAP government in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab to weigh the political weight ahead of the elections.
These programmes have already been held in Amritsar and Patiala, while chief minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal are attending the events in Hoshiarpur constituency today.
According to the details, after Hoshiarpur, a big political rally is to be held in Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. The rally for Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency will be held in Dhuri. Similarly, programmes will be held in all Lok Sabha constituencies by December 20.
