Punjab govt to set up skill centers in drug de-addiction centers

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has intensified its crackdown on drug peddlers while launching initiatives to rehabilitate drug addicts.

As part of this effort, skill centers will be established in drug de-addiction centers across all districts, offering various courses to help addicts start a new life.

Health Minister Balbir Singh, a member of the High Power Committee overseeing the initiative, stated that drug peddlers would face strict legal action, while those struggling with addiction would receive treatment and be connected to employment opportunities through industry partnerships.

He urged parents to support their children in overcoming drug addiction.

The minister also warned that drug traffickers are distributing narcotic-laced items, including vaping products and substances marketed as “strawberry drug candy,” near schools. He called on parents to remain vigilant and cooperate in their children’s treatment.
