Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Chandigarh drenched in Ramayan fervour, Processions to be carried out today
Chandigarh: Devotees in North India’s Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh have commenced Shobha Yatras and Pad-Yatras today to welcome Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
Meanwhile, thousands of large screens and LEDs are being installed in these regions for the live broadcast of the Shri Ram Pran-Pratishtha event.
A half-day holiday has been declared in Haryana, with Chandigarh observing a full-day holiday. However, no decision has been made by the governments of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. Some school institutions have individually opted to remain closed. Various religious programs are scheduled in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh on January 22.
**Punjab:**
– Processions and pad-yatras are underway today.
– In Amritsar, a human chain of Shri Ram has been formed, and a padayatra is scheduled from 2 to 4 pm.
– In Jalandhar and Ludhiana, tableaux and processions are being organized.
– Deepmala ceremonies will be held in major Punjab temples.
Large screens and LED displays are being installed in Punjab cities to broadcast the Pran Pratishtha program live. A grand Deepgarland ceremony is planned in the evening at Durgyana temple in Amritsar, with 121,000 diyas to be lit at Shri Devi Talab temple in Jalandhar.
**Chandigarh:**
– Chandigarh is adorned with beautiful lights, and a full-day holiday is declared.
– Events and big screens are set up in city markets and temples, with Panjab University and affiliated colleges closed on January 22.
**Haryana:**
– A grand procession is taking place in Panipat, with Chief Minister Khattar and singer Kailash Kher participating.
– A half-day holiday is declared in Haryana until 2:30 PM, and a dry day with closed liquor shops is observed.
– Shri Ram Lala’s Pran Pratishtha will be shown live in 15 thousand temples, accompanied by Ramayana recitations and a cleanliness drive in schools.
**Himachal Pradesh:**
– Fireworks are scheduled in Shimla on January 22, and 5100 lamps will be lit in Jakhu temple.
– Processions will be held from Kalibari temple, and major Shimla temples will feature live broadcasts of Ayodhya programs.
– Special programs are planned in Himachal’s Shaktipeeths, including Chintpurni, Jwalaji, Chamunda Devi, Naina Devi, and Bajreshwari Devi.
