Punjab HC quashes non-bailable warrant against Punjab minister Gurmeet Hayer
Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has received relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which quashed the non-bailable warrant issued by the Chandigarh District Court.
An FIR was filed against Meet Hayer in Chandigarh on October 24, 2020, under Section 188 of the IPC, when he and AAP supporters staged a sit-in at the Chandigarh BJP office.
Although Meet Hayer was initially granted bail, he failed to appear in court last month, leading the court to cancel his bail and issue non-bailable warrants.
Meet Hayer appealed to the High Court, which accepted his plea, canceled the non-bailable warrant, and instructed him to appear at the next hearing in the Chandigarh court.
