Punjab police conduct raids at 800 locations under ‘War against drugs’ campaign

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police carried out search operations at around 800 locations across the state as part of its ‘War against Drugs’ campaign, aimed at eradicating drug menace under government directions.

The operation led to the seizure of 8.14 kg of heroin, 1.21 kg of opium, and drug money worth Rs 8 lakh.

Police registered 232 cases and arrested 290 people across Punjab. Over 8,000 police personnel participated in raids conducted in Bathinda, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and other cities.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had earlier instructed Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to take the strictest action against drug trafficking in the state.
