Punjab Police register two more cases against travel agents in human trafficking probe

Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Punjab Police, investigating illegal human trafficking cases linked to the deportation of immigrants from Punjab from the US, has registered two more cases against travel agents, bringing the total number of cases to ten.

The latest cases involve agents accused of illegally sending victims to the US under false promises, some of whom were recently deported. ADGP NRI Affairs Praveen Sinha revealed that a case had been registered against 43 travel agents last year.

The first case names Jaskaran Singh, Mohinder Singh, Hardev Kaur, and Sujan Singh, all residents of Tahli in Tanda, Hoshiarpur district.

The second case is against Happy, a travel agent from Tanda, and Gill from Tarn Taran. Both cases have been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Immigration Act at the NRI police station in Hoshiarpur.

The SIT, led by ADGP Praveen Sinha, is investigating complaints from deportees who allege they were duped by travel agents. Cases have been registered after recording the statements of these deportees.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav urged citizens to assist in the arrest of fraudulent travel agents, stating that public cooperation is crucial to dismantling these illegal networks.
