Punjab Police seize 105 Kg of heroin in massive cross-border drug bust
Amritsar: In a significant intelligence-led operation, Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border smuggling network, resulting in one of the state’s largest drug seizures to date.
The operation led to the arrest of two associates linked to Turkey-based drug smuggler Navpreet Singh, alias Nav Bhullar.
The seized contraband includes 105 kg of heroin, 31.93 kg of caffeine anhydrous, and 17 kg of DMR, along with five foreign-made pistols and one locally-made firearm.
Initial investigations indicate that the drugs were smuggled from Pakistan using the water route.
Rubber tubes typically used for tires were also recovered, hinting at their role in transporting narcotics via waterways.
The arrested individuals, Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar, are now in custody, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the PS State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.
DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, praised the operation and assured that further investigations are ongoing to trace additional links within the drug cartel and bring more individuals involved to justice.
