Raid on relatives of pro-Khalistan MP Amritpal: NIA summons uncle, aunt
Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided at houses of relatives of Khadoor Sahib MP and pro-Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh in Amritsar at 6am. They reached the house of Amritpal Singh’s uncle Pragat Singh on Ferumon Road in Raiya.
The team has detained Pragat Singh’s wife. The officers took them with them to the Beas police station, where they were questioned for about 3 hours.
Amritpal Singh’s uncle Pragat Singh works as a furniture dealer. After being released from Beas police station at around 1 pm, Amritpal Singh aunt informed that she and Pragat Singh had been called to Chandigarh for questioning on September 26.
She said that the raid was done in connection with a case registered against Pragat Singh last year.
The second raid took place at Amritpal’s brother-in-law’s house in Sathiala village in Amritsar. The team also raided the house of Amritpal’s brother-in-law’s brother-in-law.
All three raids are linked to Amritpal. The NIA conducted the raid in connection with the attack on the Indian High Commission of Khalistan supporters in Canada on 23 March 2023.
In fact, after the arrest of Amritpal Singh, Khalistanis had demonstrated outside the Indian High Commissions in Canada, America and UK. The Indian flag was vandalised and disrespected during a protest outside the Indian Embassy in Canada. After which in June, the NIA registered an FIR and started the investigation.
