Railways loses Rs 5.5 crore during rail roko agitation
Punjab News: As many as 19 farmer organisations from five north Indian states, including Punjab, have announced to intensify their agitation to mark the end of their three-day rail agitation to meet their demands, including compensation for floods.
The country’s rail connectivity with neighbouring states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, including Punjab, was cut off due to the chakka jam of trains for three days at 20 places in Punjab.
At many places in Punjab, farmers also protested by blocking the roads today.
The farmers’ organisations held a one-day rail roko morcha in Ambala and warned the central and state governments that if their demands were not met, the scope of the farmers’ struggle would be widened and a fight would be waged against the government.
Meanwhile, the Ferozepur railway division would suffer a financial loss of over Rs 5.5 crore during the three-day rail roko agitation by the farmers.
