DC directs Municipal Corporation to ensure prompt disposal of rainwater from the city

Inspects water logging situation amid heavy rain, interacts with field staff of MCJ

Jalandhar:  Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Tuesday visited the water logged areas of the city amid rains and passed on necessary directions to the officials for prompt disposal of rainwater.

Accompanied by Commisioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Gautam Jain, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Railway Road, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk, Patel chowk, Phagwara Gate, PAP Chowk, Mai Heeran Gate and other localities of the city. He said that the city needs to be made a water logging free city for which sustainable efforts need to be made. He reiterated Punjab Government’s cmmitment to providing better facilities of the people so that they do not face any problem.

The DC further said that as a short term solution the water should be immediately flushed out from the streets of the city. He said that people should not suffer due to the incessant rain for which all the departments concerned has to make concerted efforts. Dr. Aggarwal asked the Municipal Corporation authorities to ensure that water logged localities are cleared at the earliest so that people don’t face any sort of inconvenience.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the city should have a sustainable and foolproof mechanism for ejecting the water especially in the rainy season. He asked the civic body authorise to come up with a blue print of such plan so that city residents do not have to suffer. Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that he will flag up this issue with the state government too and ensure that no stone is left unturned of this noble work. Meanwhile, he had interaction with the field staff of Jalandhar Corporation and hailed their efforts while further encouraging them to leave no stone unturned to keep city free from water logging. Entire team of MC Jalandhar was present on the spot.
