Ransom case accused injured in police encounter near Amritsar

Chandigarh: Amritsar police shot and injured an accused who attempted to escape from custody near Miri-Piri Academy under Chheharta police station. The encounter occurred while the police were returning after recovering evidence.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that businessmen had been receiving ransom demands.

During the investigation, three individuals—Jagroop Singh alias Charan, Yuvraj Singh, and Shamsher alias Shera—were arrested for extorting money on behalf of another person. While being transported, one of the accused attempted to flee, prompting the police to open fire, injuring him in the leg.

Police officials also revealed that a suspect named General, based in Australia, will be issued a Red Notice.
