Wanted a son, father kills his 6-month-old girl in Jalandhar

A 6-month-old girl was killed and buried in the ground by her father in Folhadiwal village adjoining Jalandhar city of Punjab, police said on Wednesday.  

There is also a possibility of rape of the innocent before the murder. The police have arrested the accused father. The body has also been recovered.

Police officials said the body was recovered from near the water tank at Folhadiwal. The body has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem. The wife of the arrested man, Arjun, had lodged a complaint with the police that her husband did not like the daughter, the officials said. 

He wanted a son from me, but after having a daughter, his attitude had changed.

The wife said he had picked up his six-month-old daughter and taken her to a water tank in the village. There he killed his daughter near the well. The wife has expressed apprehension that Arjun even raped her before killing her daughter.

On the complaint of his wife, the team of Police Station Sadar went to village Folhadiwal and recovered the body from near the tank and kept it in the mortuary of Jamsher Hospital. The accused father has also been arrested. Police said that the post-mortem of the body will be done. Arjun has been booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder. If the post-mortem confirms rape, then its section will also be added together.
