Rising traffic chaos in Chandigarh: Metro may run in Chandigarh; Governor holds meeting with Haryana and Punjab government
Punjab News: There is almost a consensus to run the metro in Chandigarh during a meeting with Punjab and Haryana government called by the Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Thursday.
Under the chairmanship of Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, discussions were held on eradicating the increasing traffic jams in the tricity, including Chandigarh. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present at the meeting.
Minister Anmol Gagan Mann attended the meeting as Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was on a visit to Sangrur.
In the meeting, the Haryana CM has given some suggestions while Punjab has sought some time to consider it. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has suggested that Zirakpur be connected to the Metro from Pinjore-Kalka. Metro should also do the work of connecting Chandigarh to Pinjore-Kalka. These routes should be included in the first phase of the metro itself. Apart from this, important places like Punjab, Haryana Secretariat, Vidhan Sabha, High Court, Airport should be connected to the Metro in the first phase itself, officials said.
