Rs 1.84 crore scam in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Punjab: Vigilance probe reveals

Chandigarh: Vigilance has unearthed a scam of Rs 1.84 crore in the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme in Nabha, Punjab. After investigation, Vigilance has registered a case against the officers and the contractor, but the accused have not been arrested yet.

Investigation has revealed that in the year 2018, Municipal Council Nabha received funds under the House for All Scheme (PMSAY). From 01.11.2018 to 06.11.2018, fake bills of development works were prepared and Rs 1 crore 84 lakh 45 thousand 551 was embezzled.

Vigilance investigation has revealed that no development work was done with the said amount, rather the officials in collusion with the contractor have embezzled funds by showing the works as development work instead of building houses for the needy under this scheme.
