Sacrilege case: Kunwar Vijay Pratap demands special session of Assembly
Chandigarh: Raising the issue of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and subsequent police firing during the Punjab Assembly session, AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh on Wednesday demanded that a special session of the Assembly be convened in the matter.
Taking up the issue during zero hour on the third day of the monsoon session today, he demanded that the SIT report on the police firing in Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura in 2015 during protests against the sacrilege incident be tabled in the Assembly.
The AAP MLA, who has been questioning his own government on the issue, reminded the House that it has been six years since the Punjab Assembly passed a resolution to withdraw the probe from the CBI and set up a SIT in this regard.
Hitting out at the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) led by former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh, he said the people of Punjab should know who had created such a mess in the investigation that the SIT report on police firing was rejected by the High Court.
He said that now this report is not part of the court proceedings, due to which it can be tabled in the House.
