Sacrilege case reported in Nakodar, police launch investigation
Chandigarh: A case of sacrilege involving Gutka Sahib and Guru Granth Sahib has been reported in Nakodar. Two Gutka Sahibs and a Sanchi of Guru Granth Sahib were found abandoned near a canal on Shankar Road. The police have launched an investigation and are searching for the accused.
The incident came to light when a passerby noticed a red cloth lying on the ground. Upon inspection, he found Guru Sahib’s Sanchi and Gutka Sahib wrapped inside. He immediately raised an alarm, following which the Sikh community gathered at the spot and informed the police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh and city police station in-charge Aman Saini arrived at the scene and respectfully took the recovered scriptures to Singh Sabha Gurdwara Sahib in Nakodar.
Former Nakodar MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala also visited the site and called for strict action against those responsible. He further stated that, along with the sacred scriptures, pictures of Hindu gods and honor symbols given to religious figures were also found discarded at the location.
