SAD warns against indiscipline amid jathedar replacements
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has issued a stern warning against indiscipline as internal tensions rise following the replacement of jathedars at Akal Takht and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder stated that indiscipline “will not be accepted at any cost.”
Bhunder’s remarks come amid strong criticism from senior party leaders and former ministers, including Bikram Singh Majithia, a close relative of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, over the March 7 decision to suspend two jathedars of the SGPC’s internal committee.
Following a parliamentary board meeting, Bhunder reiterated that “no one is above the party” and that while members are free to express their views within the party platform, anti-party statements and videos would be referred to the disciplinary committee.
He warned that show-cause notices would be issued to those speaking against decisions made by the SGPC and SAD, with further action based on their responses.
The meeting was attended by senior SAD leaders, including Gulzar Singh Ranike, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Hira Singh Gabria, and Daljit Singh Cheema.
