SAD working committee meeting on January 10 to decide on Sukhbir Badal’s resignation
Amritsar: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has scheduled a meeting of its working committee on January 10 at 3 pm at the party headquarters in Chandigarh.
The meeting, which follows discussions with Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, will address the resignation of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and other organizational matters.
Earlier, SAD leaders submitted a memorandum to the Akal Takht Jathedar, highlighting legal challenges in conducting the party’s organizational elections.
They informed him that the working committee would soon finalize plans for the elections and membership recruitment.
Senior leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema stated that the SAD delegation assured the Jathedar of the party’s commitment to adhering to Akal Takht guidelines.
He confirmed that all leaders, including Sukhbir Singh Badal, have complied with religious punishments ordered by the Akal Takht.
Dr. Cheema also addressed technical issues in forming a seven-member committee as directed by the Akal Takht.
He briefed the Jathedar on constitutional amendments, Supreme Court directives, and Election Commission guidelines that impact the process.
